Menu Designs

The covers of the Feinberg regular and special menus had different cover images for easy identification of the two different menus by food services staff.

The “special” menu for the Feinberg Inpatient Pavilion was similar to the regular Feinberg menu in design and content but was intended for patients with particular nutritional needs and restrictions. When compared with the regular version of the menu, the special menu had certain foods replaced with healthier options and carbohydrate counts indicated for all foods.

Northwestern Memorial Lake Forest Hopital's Bedside Bistro menu included numbers on each item's calories, carbohydrates and sodium; and graphic icons that indicated the items classified as “heart healthy.” It was a lot of information to pack into a menu, so it had to be well organized for a quick read of that information without confusion.
